CAMPING GEAR GUIDE

CAMPING GEAR GUIDEThe type of camping gear necessary depends on the type of trip you have planned.

The best place to start any trip is by making very clean detailed list for your Camping Gear.

We all know the importance of a quality camping tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pads.

However, by making detailed lists you can make your camping trip as hassle-free as possible. It forces you to think about how will I cook my food? Do I need a tent footprint to protect the tent floor? What types of food will I be cooking, and what kind of cooking gear will I require? What is the best type of compass to take along? On this trip will I need a camp axe or just good quality camping knives?

It is very easy to overlook simple things like a First Aid kit, or a hammer to put in your tent stakes.

Camp lighting is a very important part of camping gear. Using flashlights, lanterns, headlamps, may just save your life in an emergency situation. So be prepared with extra batteries and/or fuel.

And since healthy drinking water is essential, make sure you take along adequate camp drinking water treatments, such as water purifiers, water filters, and purifer tablets to ensure your safe health with clean drinking water.

In The Light

camping lanternSummer camping trips are great way to get friends and family together for a weekend in the wilderness. Sitting around a campfire singing and roasting marshmallows is always a welcomed retreat to the hectic five-day work week. But many national parks prohibit camp fires during the hottest summer months. Lightening is essential to a good camping trip and fires are nice, but a camping lantern may be the best way to go during a burn ban. When shopping for your camping lantern you should know that there are a few types to choose from.

A liquid fuel lantern produces a very bright light, is economical to use and can double as a heat source during the winter. Gas lanterns use fuel like propane or butane. These are convenient to use and produce bright light. Battery-operated lanterns are quiet, dependable and rechargeable.

Camping LanternThings to think about before choosing a Camping Lantern:

1. How much room is available to carry a lantern. Gas lanterns are not practical if you are hiking.

2. There are a number of different types of fuel available, including propane, butane, dual fuel, and kerosene. Do match up your lantern to match your stove.

3. How much light do you require. Do you need a headlamp and/or flashlight?

4. Gas lanterns burn the brightest and last longer than a candle lantern. And there are also the battery lanterns.

5. Gas lanterns are much noiser than the candle or battery models. Will this bother you?

6. You must consider safety. The battery lanterns are your safest bet inside the tent. The candle and gas lanterns get hot and can cause a fire.

7. Temperature is a factor if you are thinking of using the battery lanterns. They do not do well with extreme cold or freezing conditions.

So consider all this information before purchasing your next camping lantern.
