Summer camping trips are great way to get friends and family together for a weekend in the wilderness. Sitting around a campfire singing and roasting marshmallows is always a welcomed retreat to the hectic five-day work week. But many national parks prohibit camp fires during the hottest summer months. Lightening is essential to a good camping trip and fires are nice, but a camping lantern may be the best way to go during a burn ban. When shopping for your camping lantern you should know that there are a few types to choose from.
A liquid fuel lantern produces a very bright light, is economical to use and can double as a heat source during the winter. Gas lanterns use fuel like propane or butane. These are convenient to use and produce bright light. Battery-operated lanterns are quiet, dependable and rechargeable.
